Lecture Series (Issue 26) | Arithmetic Aspects of Random Multiplicative Functions

A random multiplicative function is a random model for multiplicative functions, such as the Möbius function and Dirichlet characters. In this talk, we discuss recent progress in this research area, with an emphasis on arithmetic applications. This talk is based on several works jointwith Harper, Soundararajan, with Wang and with Hardy.

Lecture Series (Issue 25) | Intersecting well approximable and missing digit sets

Let b>2 be an integer and C(b, D) be the set of real numbers in[0,1l whose base b-expansion only consists of digits in a subset D of {0, 1,..., b-1}. Motivated by Mahler's problem, we consider how close can numbers in C(b, D) be approximated by rationalnumbers with denominators being powers of some integer t. Some Hausdorff measure and dimension results wil be given in the talk, The phenomena are different for the following three cases of b and t: (i) multiplicatively dependent.(i:)multiplicatively independent but have the same prime divisors: (iii) the left case.
